NEW: PEATS Spain – Street art and mask making in Catalonia

Duration: 32 days

This placement is managed by the host organisation Amics de Riba-rroja d’Ebre (“Riba-roja d’Ebre ‘s friends, a non profit organisation) and supported by their partner organisation Riba Rocks Association (non profit organisation). The placement will take place in Riba-roja d’Ebre 2 hrs west of Barcelona in the mountains area along the river d’Ebre in Catalonia.

The group will be able to enjoy the local festival of Fiesta Majore (1 week festival that takes place in the last week of August). There will be lots going on during that week.

Itinerary

The 2020 itinerary includes:
  • Art: art in streets – spending some time at a nearby finca run by Sarah and Chris (english artists couple) making paints etc. for the street art
  • 4 day workshop with local illustrator Roser gay
  • paper mache’ mask workshop with the arts teacher Isabel Torres
  • creating a placement journey diary with local illustrator Roser Gay
  • Demonstrations by local ceramic artist Adria Cid and pyrographer Enric Arboli (tbc)

The placement will include visits to Sebes nature reserves, juniper ovens, civil war trenches, Horta de Sant Juan Picasso museum, Gaudí interactive museum in Reus and attending activities during the local festival Riba-roja d’Ebre Fiestas Mayores.

Accommodation: shared village apartment and static home on ecological olive finca (farm)

Meals: Self-catering in accommodation as well as meals in local tapas restaurants and community meals in the street

Communication: hi speed fiber-optic wifi available free of charge at local bars, also desks available at the local co-working office (TBC), wide spread 4G available in the village, check with mobile network for coverage
Transport: Transfers from Reus Airport available and trains run from Barcelona El Prat Airport three times a day. A local pool car available to assigned driver over 25 with 2 years UK driving licence (TBC).
Weather: Hotter than UK summer, can be 30-38 degrees C (free access to the community swimming pool and access to the river Ebro)

 

Funding

The placement is funded by the EU Erasmus + scheme and covers return flights, accommodation, car hire costs and a subsistence allowance.
