Slovakia – Traditional Crafts & Creativity in a Village Museum (Oct 23)

Accommodation: (shared twin rooms) is in a large village house on a fully self catering basis.

Meals: Self-Catering, lunch provided by the host.

Communication: Wi-fi is available at Lišov Museum.  Check with mobile network for coverage.

Transport: Students will fly to Budapest, host will arrange for airport transfer to Lisov

Flights: Grampus will email students with a flight option that fits within the travel grant and which arrives at a time that suits the host. Students are welcome to look for alternative flights, but the arrival times must match those of the offered flight and be within the travel grant. Students have to fund their own way to the UK airport

GHIC: Students must apply for a Global Health Insurance Card before the placement, and carry it on them at all times

10.10.  TUESDAY – Presentation of our work in the Museum and in the village, visiting cave houses and getting to know the village, meal together, wine tasting

12.10. THURSDAY – Visit to exhibition and Museum in Brhlovce cave house village for a presentation clay bricks and buildings

13.10. – FRIDAY – Restoration old building with natural materials/excavation

16.10. – MONDAY – Workshop with Sona, wool processing, looms weaving

17.10. – TUESDAY – Workshop with Sona, wool processing, looms weaving.

18.10. – WEDNESDAY – Restoration old building with natural materials

19.10. – THURSDAY – Fruit processing seasonal food.

20.10. – FRIDAY – Basket weaving

21.10. – SATURDAY – FREE WEEKEND

WEEK THREE 23.10. – 29.10.2023

24.10. TUESDAY – Visit Banska Stiavnica UNESCO town

25.10. WEDNESDAY- Workshop with Fero Liptak – artist

26.10. THURSDAY – Fruit processing seasonal food. work in orchid

27.10. FRIDAY – Finishing our work, final meal from wild food.

28.10. – SATURDAY – FREE WEEKEND

29.10. – Departure

Weekends are usually free but the group will have access to bikes. There are good transport links with bus and train from nearby Levice.

FUNDING

The Turing grant will cover accommodation, food (3 meals a day), return, flights, insurance, transport to site and supervision. Participants will have to make sure they have their EHI or GHI card and budget for personal purchases and excursions.
